– Origo Apartment Hotel is our home when we are in Norway
For most people, a hotel stay is just a temporary solution. But for handball star Veronica ‘Vikki’ Kristiansen, Origo Apartment Hotel has become a true home away from home — a place she always returns to when she’s in Norway.
– It’s all about having a place of your own, somewhere you can truly feel at home. We’re a small family now, and having a base where we can relax and just be ourselves means a lot, Vikki shares.
With a busy handball career — having been a key player for the Norwegian national team for years and winning multiple championship titles, while also playing for the Hungarian powerhouse Győri Audi ETO KC — time at home has become a precious luxury. That’s why having a place that feels comfortable, practical, and relaxing when she’s in Norway is so important.
A home base for life’s most important moments
Veronica and her family first stayed at Origo in the summer of 2023, when they were expecting their first child. With the hospital just a stone’s throw away, the location couldn’t have been more perfect.
– It was reassuring to be so close to the hospital, while also avoiding the feeling of being stuck in a hotel room. Having a full apartment with space and freedom made a huge difference, she says.
Origo became their home base during one of the most important phases of their lives — and the place they naturally chose to return to when they were expecting their second child in January 2025.
– Our first impression was that it felt like our home — and that feeling has only grown stronger every time we’ve stayed here. It’s simple, practical, central, and truly cozy.
When the family arrived in Norway before Christmas, they were met with a special surprise from Origo. The Christmas tree was already decorated, and the apartment was filled with holiday spirit — a thoughtful touch that made their stay even more memorable.
– That meant so much to us. We stepped straight into the Christmas mood without having to lift a finger. It just shows how thoughtful and attentive they are here, Vikki says.
A concept in a class of its own
As a professional handball player, Vikki has traveled extensively and stayed in countless hotels and apartments around the world. Yet, she has never experienced anything quite like Origo.
– I honestly haven’t come across a concept like this anywhere else, she says.
So what exactly makes Origo so special? For Vikki, it’s the combination of a cozy, home-like atmosphere, flexibility, and a central location in the heart of Drammen.
– If I were to buy an apartment, I could easily see myself buying one of the Origo apartments. The location is perfect, and you can do everything you would normally do at home. Plus, having weekly cleaning — or even more often if you need it — is a real bonus, she says with a smile.
In addition to practical advantages like regular cleaning and fully equipped apartments, there’s something more that keeps her coming back: the freedom to live her days just like she would at home, with the added benefit of being close to both family and the city.
– It’s exactly the balance we need. We have our own space, but we’re still just minutes away from everything around us. It never feels like an impersonal hotel experience.
Origo in three words: Cozy. Central. Modern.
For Vikki and her family, Origo Apartment Hotel isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place to live. A place where they’ve shared meaningful moments, where they can unwind and be themselves, and where the feeling of coming home is always present.
– It’s such a comfort to know that we have a place that truly feels like our own when we’re in Norway. That’s the most important thing of all, she concludes.
