A Rich History
Drammens Teater was founded in 1870 and has a long and proud history. Over the years, the theater has hosted productions of some of the most famous works in both Norwegian and international drama. The theater has also been an important platform for new talents and has contributed to shaping Norwegian theater history.
Some of the highlights in Drammens Teater’s history include:
- The first production of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House in 1880
- The world premiere of Nordahl Grieg’s A Man of Peace in 1934
- The revival of Terje Vigen in 1978, with Knut Bjørntvedt in the lead role
- The critically acclaimed production of Hamlet in 2009
